It’s October already, do you know that what means?! It’s nearly NaNo time!!! Every November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo or NaNo). Thousands of folks, all over the world, challenge themselves to write a 50,000-word novel during the month of November. This year marks the 10th anniversary and I’m challenging You to join me in the adventure that is NaNo.

Don’t know what to write? No worries. You can write about anything you want, in whatever format floats your boat. Although, technically, there is a special event for scripts (ScriptFrenzy, in April); but I digress.

You can write a collection of short stories, a dissertation on which type of trees produce the best wands, the squirrelly ways of Silver Ramen Noodle, a bunch of pagans running amok (amok, amok) at the fair grounds, or something non-pagan - am I allowed to say that on a Church website? - what you write is up to you.

The key is that it all has to be written within the month of November. No finishing a story that you started last month or five years ago. And no writing the last 5k on December 1st. Why would you want to cheat yourself that way? Besides, the site has a word counter that goes offline at midnight on November 30th.

Confused? Check out the NaNo website for all the details. If you have questions, post them here. I know of others in the COTE community who are participating this year. Between us, we can probably answer any question you may have; as it pertains to NaNo, that is. Leave the quantum physics questions at the ..umm quantum physics site.

And yes, you found me out. This article is really a warm up exercise for November. What tipped you off? Silver Ramen Noodle or the reference to quantum physics? Oh and this article is 322 words (323 if you include the title), not that I’m counting…
